The Versatile Blogger Award and Seven Things You Didn’t Know About Me

It’s nearly a week since the lovely Mummyplum tagged me in her Versatile Blogger piece.  So thanks to Claire at for reading my blog and nominating me!  The idea is that you share seven little known facts about yourself and nominate other bloggers to pick up the challenge.  So, here are my little known facts:

  • I wore a genuine sari, complete with bindi, at a wedding in India.  One of my friends, originally from Mumbai, married a woman from Chennai and I went to their wedding.  The sari came from India and I was measured up for the blouse at the side of the road and had it made up there and then.
  • I am obsessed with mushrooms.  I love them.  They go in practically every meal.
  • I have moved house 21 times and lived in 6 UK counties.  I’ve wandered a bit, but been in my last place for 6 years now, although I do have itchy feet sometimes.  It’s a bit more difficult to move now with a husband in a job he loves and a little chap.
  • I rolled a car in a crash on the A1 and walked away without a scratch.  My own stupid fault, no one else was hurt.  I had a hitchhiker with me; the police gave me a hard time about that until I pointed out that he was probably in more danger from me.
  • The luxury I would take to a desert island is a memory foam pillow.  Nothing like a great night’s sleep to see you through the toughest of days.
  • I have never seen It’s a Wonderful Life or Ben Hur.  Must remedy that this Christmas.
  • I’ve been close friends with my great friend Lisa for more than 30 years.  We met at primary school and have never quite managed to shake one another off, despite the aforementioned 21 house moves by me and a few by Lisa.  Couldn’t live without her now.  Must also credit her for helping with these seven things; she knows me better than I know myself!

Now I’d like to pass the challenge onto these superb bloggers if they haven’t already taken part.

I enjoy reading these blogs, so please do have a look if you haven’t already.

  1. Thank you for tagging me, I’m flattered. I did a very similer meme back in April: so I probably won’t do it again but I do thank you for the mention and I enjoyed reading yours and getting to know you a bit more.

  2. 21 times?!! Aren’t you sick of packing?! I’ve moved 3 times (not including with parents when younger) and I’ll be happy if I don’t have to pack another box or load another trailer for a very long time :)
And I’m with you on the pillow thing… I LOVE my memory foam pillow! Xx

  3. 21 times! Wow. Have you been given any shares in Pickfords yet?! That’s quite astounding.
I only watched It’s a Wonderful Life a few years ago. Great film to get you in the Christmas spirit. (As a complete aside…have you seen Life is Beautiful? Italian film – obviously I used the subtitles… fabulous film.)
Thank you for taking up the versatile blogger baton!

    • Will look into Life is Beautiful too, thanks for the recommendation. Most of the time I moved myself or with help from friends and a man and van. Next time will definitely be Pickfords, though! The packing does get progressively worse, amazing what you can accumulate.

  4. I totally love mushrooms too (had mushroom & spinach risotto for tea last night). I just wish the supermarkets would stock a wider variety! And 21 house moves! wow!!

  5. 21 times !!!!! Has that been mentioned already ?????? That’s ALOT. BTW I have subscribed to recieve email alerts but alas they are not coming through.

    • Hi, I haven’t posted anything much for a while, did you get this post through? All I can suggest is resubscribing. I think you have to confirm in an email sent to you – did you get that? Can’t think of anything else to suggest.

  6. Hey little sis! I like mushrooms too and have never seen Ben Hur either. Moved 21 times? Really? wow. And sleep, well yes, noting is better. Looking forward to reading your blog and getting to know you. -susanna xx

  7. What a lovely 7 things Polly. Really enjoy reading you.

  8. Connections again, weird how the #groovingmums end up having stuff in common and random stuff at that.
I have attended a Muslim wedding once but never got the sari and would love to wear one one day
Mushroom thing I agree with totally.
I have moved lots too and clocked up 7 counties to date.
I love your comment about the hitchiker and am very relieved you got out ok as otherwise #groovingmums would not have being quite so rich
