Out with the Old…

The Groovingmums bloghop encourages women to consider themselves a bit more, to sparkle as a woman in our own right as the festive season approaches at breakneck speed, to move forward with goals large and small and to get that va-va voom back in a way which makes sense to us as the individuals we are.  This week’s challenges from www.kateonthinice.wordpress.com are:

Treat yourself to something that keeps you warm this winter;

Sort out your finances;

Create a challenge involving art;

Take part in a fun blog hop, for example Magpie Monday at http://missielizzie-meandmyshadow.blogspot.com.

This week’s post is mainly about getting rid of old things.  I have cleared out all my clothes that I haven’t worn in ages and won’t want to wear when I get the last of my excess weight shifted.  I have donated half to a charity that put its plastic bag through my door yesterday.  The other half is made up of Marks and Spencer’s clothes and I’ll take it to Oxfam to see if they are still running their promotion whereby you get a voucher for £5 when you donate your M&S clothes to them.  Then I can put it towards something pretty from M&S.

I continue to shed weight and have now lost 21 lbs, which I’m very pleased about and have bought two new pairs of jeans to celebrate.  I’m starting to lose my taste for sweet things, yet again.  It seems to be all too easy to regain that taste but a slice of birthday cake at the weekend made me feel slightly sick, which is all to the good.  I also spent a whole day this week cleaning the house from top to bottom, getting rid of all the clutter and things that just seem to magically accumulate, and then invited two new friends and their children round to play.  I think it was a very successful afternoon and I’m glad I made the effort.  That’s a lot of “getting rid of the old” so to balance that I’ve acquired another hat, a lovely cosy, knitted purple one.  One of my friends gave it to me for my birthday and I love it.

I’ve got a couple of ideas for meeting this week’s challenges.  More about those on next week’s post.

    Well done with the weight loss, the m&s scheme sounds good, hopefully your clothes or the money raised from their sale will make it over here where it can be put to valuable use

    Thanks for taking part and sticking with us #groovingmums
    Huge congratulations on the weight loss and I guess we are similar in that when I hit the stone and a half lost, I started decluttering and not just clothes either. Lots more to do but getting there.
    I insist on seeing the hat “When I am old, I shall wear purple” n all that!
    Very tired after too much rocking last night but will be back tomorrow to take a closer look at some of your other blog posts.

    There goes my excuse that I can’t lose weight cos of my Tyroid! Damn it! Congrats on the weight loss though! I may get you and Kate to send me detailed food plans so I can start shedding the pounds in the same way! I also love a good clearout. I usually have one every three months as crap is accumilated very quickly in my house!

    Congratulations on your weight loss!

    Two things – great that you get to celebrate with nice new clothes, and that others will benefit from your clearout too.

    A double whammy of #gm!

  5. Well done on the weight loss. That’s fantastic. Having a good clear out can be very therapeutic. Lots of space in the wardrobe for new clothes too! Good on you for having a top to bottom house clearout. It sounds most satisfying.

    Purple hat. Love it. Everyone needs a little purple in their life. (IMHO!) x

    Hello Polly! Weldone on losing so much weight – I can only imagine how satisfying it must have been to wear your new jeans. I love having a good clear out too and it means you have to treat yourself to new clothes. I wish I could lose my taste for sweet things. Sounds like you are all guns ablazing at the moment! Good for you!
